Ahhhh....quiet time

What a day!!! Today is normally Ryan's day off from camp, but since Brandon didn't want to go on camp's beach field trip, he's home today too. Les is home since he's in week 7 or 8 of looking for work. Of course, I'm home on summer vacation....but, I haven't had ONE DAY to myself.
So, the morning started off crappy due to an argument between Brandon and myself. The four of us then went to Pasadena so Les could get something done at his sister's office, followed by lunch at an Indian restaurant. More crappiness (sic) ensued during lunch when Brandon and Ryan began arguing about something petty and Brandon threw his rice covered napkin across the table at Ryan. Yes, rice flew everywhere. I thought 9 1/2 year olds were beyond doing stuff like that. Consequence...no more DS for Brandon today. I came home and hid it.
More fun at home! Brandon decides to look for his DS in my earring drawer and proceeds to spill all the contents. Uugghh! Ryan is cutting ribbon and leaving trails of little pieces all over the house. Uugghh! I then see my purse ON THE FLOOR with ALL of its contents spilled out (including a tampon which has clearly been opened...ha, I wonder what they thought that was)! Uugghh!
Now all three of them are at Brandon's swimming lesson and I have about 40 whole minutes of quiet time. I'm sure 40 minutes will never go by as quickly as it's going by right now.

Grammar

I hate to be picky, but I am so sick and tired of the lack of proper grammar I'm noticing lately. I see it everywhere: fb, email, notes, etc. I even see poor grammar from teachers...and trust me, it's all too common.
Doesn't anyone remember the difference between "your" and "you're"???? Is it really that difficult to remind oneself that if it makes sense to say "you are" then you write "you're" ????? Otherwise it's "your," as in "belongs to you."
Sorry, the teacher in me just made those last two sentences sound really obnoxious. I hope you get my drift.

Greetings!

I'm not quite sure what I'm doing, but I'm very excited about creating this blog. It's not aesthetically pleasing yet...all in due time.

I'm really getting used to the quiet days, alone in the house. Now that the doctor is keeping me out of work for the rest of the school year so my ankle can heal properly, I'm making plans for the rest of the summer. I can reignite my art, work on the backyard, paint two bedrooms...
No, what will really happen is that when the boys are at camp (Brandon for 4 days, and Ryan for 3 days / week) I'll be busy doing other things. It never fails, you get excited about what you can accomplish during a set amount of time, and it rarely gets done. At least that's what happens to me. Life gets in your face and the reality is laundry, marketing, dr.'s appts, etc. Before you know it the afternoon is here and it's time to pick up the kids. And once they're home...well, need I go on?

In fact, that's just what happened today. I swore I would finish a stack of Thank You notes I need to write and send to donors of a silent auction the boys' school had. That was my priority today. It is now 1:34 and I have not done any. I've been to Target, though, because there were things I needed by tomorrow and I ABSOLUTELY was NOT taking the boys with me after school. I've also done laundry, dishes, and talked to my friend on the phone. See what I mean??

Okay, I'd better run. My first post is done...now on to those Thank You notes...

Ciao
